Yes, I have been on another cooking day. Word is obviously out that my cooking skills need an update. Last week I attended an event at the HelloFresh HQ in East London, along with some other food and lifestyle bloggers/writers. We had an afternoon of cooking and eating. The latter of which happens to be something I excel in. HelloFresh made the cooking quite easy as their recipe cards are very detailed in explaining the steps to cooking each dish.
If you're not familiar with HelloFresh, they are a recipe box delivery service that offer healthy recipes made from fresh ingredients. Patrick Drake, the Head Chef and co-founder of HelloFresh, was at the event explaining how the business began in his home, in his kitchen. Now they have their own building, and an amazing kitchen where they can come up with new recipes.
This December, HelloFresh are helping people prepare for their Christmas dinner with the 12 Meals of Christmas. The meals will have various aspects of a Christmas dinner, so that you can practice each dish separately before the big day. Have a look at their blog for tips on How To Nail Christmas. I can certainly use all the help I can get. I'm taking a special note on how to perfect my pigs in blankets and my roast potatoes.
At last week's event, we each made different dishes. I partnered with the lovely Bonita from Mama's V.I.B. to saute pork with roasted cauliflower and potato wedges. The cauliflower were partnered with raisins and a light dressing. They stole the show and would make an amazing side on Christmas Day. Some of the dishes made that day include prawns, duck and roast potatoes. Considering that none of us were professional cooks, everything tasted superb.
It's amazing how good ingredients and great recipes can elevate a dish to restaurant-quality. I am looking forward to receiving my first HelloFresh delivery so that I can start perfecting my Christmas dishes. I can't wait to see what new meals I will be learning!
I was invited to this event and given a HelloFresh trial for the purpose of this post. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
