This past Christmas we decided to escape the cold of London and enjoy some Florida sunshine. My mother lives just outside Orlando, along with my aunt and grandmother, and we thought it would be nice to spend Christmas with my family and then have a few days at Disneyworld. So we swapped our woolly hats for sunglasses and headed for some winter sun and of course to see Mickey Mouse.
Many people call it Disneyworld, but there are actually six Disney parks falling under that header. Magic Kingdom is the original park in Florida, and it is considered to be the main park. It is where the classic rides are located (such as Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Space Mountain). It is where you will find Cinderella's iconic castle, you will see all the Disney princesses, and you will experience the many parades and shows featuring all of your Disney favourites.
Christmas is truly a magical time to be at Disneyworld parks. We went to most parks twice, including Magic Kingdom. We could have easily gone another day. Not only did the kids enjoy the rides, but they loved the parades. Dubz, especially, at five, was in awe. His eyes were constantly lit up in wonder. Part of my enjoyment from our Disney adventure was definitely just watching his little face. And I even enjoyed his face when he kept making me ride Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
I was worried that Moozles might not enjoy the Magic Kingdom as much as the rest of us. She's almost 10 and going through that 'I'm bored' phase. She's also obsessed with big roller coasters and I was worried that she wouldn't have fun. But Moozles was happy as soon as I got us matching Minnie ears (at £25 each, she had better feel happy). And then she was ecstatic to ride Splash Mountain, Mad Tea Party and Big Thunder Mountain.
We loved seeing the Magic Kingdom with a Christmas touch. But it was ridiculously busy. I don't think we would go again during the holiday season, but it was fun to see it once. I plan to do another post with details on rides and booking, but I just wanted to share some photos from our time at the Magic Kingdom.
