Dining in London is equally difficult and easy. On one hand, you have a huge array of restaurants to choose from. On the other hand, there are a huge array of restaurants to choose from. The choice can be overwhelming. There are a few websites and apps out there that help find restaurants in London, but I've recently come across a new app with a twist. I recently booked a meal, and paid with it using Cake.
Let me be clear. I didn't bake a cake and use it to pay for my meal. Obviously that would be amazing. What I did was to download the Cake app onto my smartphone and use it when I was meeting up with a girlfriend a few weeks ago. Now booking a restaurant isn't tough, but Cake offers more than that.
I booked a meal at Ben's Canteen in Clapham Junction. I had never been there before. But Clapham Junction is a good spot to meet up when you live in south London and don't feel like going into central London. Ben's Canteen is known for their breakfasts as well as their burgers. And they have loads of gin on offer. After wetting my whistle with a grapefruit G&T, I had a chicken burger and sweet potato chips. The service was a bit slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy, but the food was tasty. And when we were done, I took care of the bill through the Cake app. No waiting for the credit card machine or waiting for my change.
Another great feature of Cake, is that you can earn credits for your meals. Our bill came to £50, and I earned a £5 credit. This means that every time I dine, I earn more money to spend on further meals. If you like the sound of this, the lovely folks from Cake are offering my readers a £5 credit. Use the code CALIMUM when you sign up. Bon apetite!
I was given a credit voucher to try Cake for the purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
