Recently, I have had a few people make really kind comments about my skin. I have always had problem skin - breakouts, oiliness and large pores. But at 42, my skin is actually better than it has ever been. So I thought I would share the items that I use everyday. Some are from the drug store, and some are higher-end. And no, I don't use night or eye cream, and I understand that's terrible. I will one day, I promise.
First of all, I wash my face with Simple Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash. I have combination skin and this is the best thing I've ever used for washing my face. It has witch hazel, which is a natural anibacterial. My skin is sensitive, and this has never irritated my face. And it costs less than £5. Such a bargain.
Since I have saved money on my cleanser, I have splurged on my face cream. I went to a Christmas event at John Lewis Oxford Street last year and was given the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. I wasn't satisfied with my previous cream so was keen to try it out. Suffice it to say, I loved it and bought more when it ran out. The ultra-rich version is quite rich, so it's better in the colder months when your skin needs more moisturisation. But the marine cream is amazing. I have never spent anywhere close to £82 for cream before, but it is worth every penny.
I am a fan of double-moisturising. So after my face cream, I use the Olay Total Effects BB cream. It is a moisturiser combined with a touch of foundation. I have used this product fo years and rate it highly. My skin loves the extra moisture. Plus the spf15 is . The addition of foundation means that my skin tone looks more even without the heaviness of proper foundation. I never buy this item for the full-price (£15) and it is often o special for £10.
Last but not least, there is my evening product. I know that a special anti-ageing night cream and eye cream would be ideal for bedtime, but I am kinda lazy. I was given a Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate for Night and really like it. My favourite thing about it is the smell. Rosehip oil, argan oil and lavender give it a relaxing smell, which is perfect for bedtime. It is a roller ball so I just rub it on my skin and then massage it around. I also add a bit on my hands. It makes my skin feel instantly smoother.
So, that's my skincare regime. Do you use any of these products. I'd love to hear any recommendations you might have.
