Moozles is at a funny tween stage. She considers herself too old for dolls, but I think she’s too young for a lot of things. She’s barely 11, and I want her to keep hold of her childhood for as long as possible. So when we were offered the chance to review the new styling head from I’M A STYLIST, I jumped at the chance. And we were thrilled when ‘Lucy’ arrived.
First of all, these are not the usual styling heads your child may already have. Moozles actually had one when she was five, and it was abandoned after a week. The hair was gross and it was so small that she struggled to use it. The I’M A STYLIST head is bigger (almost has big as my childrens’ own heads). It comes with face gems which are super easy to apply and remove, even my seven-year old son, Dubz, managed it. There are suction cups at the bottom of the head which keeps it secure and doesn’t slide around when the children are fixing her hair. Dubz was over-excitedly brushing Lucy’s hair, and it’s a miracle that she didn’t end up bald.
One of Moozles’ favourite aspects of Lucy, was that she had a blue wig as well as brunette wig. Both kids enjoyed wearing her wigs, as well as styling them on Lucy. It comes with a wig holder that keeps the wig neat when the other one is being played with. Moozles also loved the magnetic eyelashes. They were easy to put on and off and looked very glamourous.
The I’M A GIRLY luxury dolls arrived in Harrods and Hamleys in 2018, and I’M A STYLIST is the newest addition having launched in April of this year. The styling head retails for about £89, with extra wigs costing £39 each. And since there are various wigs, you could even let your child cut their styling head’s hair without guilt. I used to love cutting my dolls’ hair when I was little so I can see my children loving this aspect.
My favourite part about Lucy was that both of my children enjoyed playing with her. And they have played with her each afternoon after arriving home from school. The styling heads, and the fashion dolls, are designed by boys and girls aged 9 to 13, and it is evident that those kids know what other kids will like.
