Last month I celebrated my 40th birthday with family and friends at a tiki bar in London. There was dancing and mojitos. And of course there was the perfect party outfit. Normally I would use extra money to buy kids’ clothes or accessories for the house. But this time, with no guilt at all, I bought myself a new outfit.
I decided to join the jumpsuit bandwagon (about three years late I know, but whatever). After much perusing on the House of Fraser website, I found a lovely black wrap jumpsuit from Wallis. I was worried that you had to be tall, thin and young to wear a jumpsuit, but I thought this looked nice. Not only was it extremely flattering, but it also covered the tops of my arms (which is a major issue for me). I was also pleased that after several months of healthy living, I was able to fit into a size 16. I was wearing size 20 trousers back in March. So the size of the jumpsuit gave me quite an ego boost.
Husband and the kids gave me some gorgeous gold-coloured accessories from H&M for my birthday which coincidentally looked lovely with my jumpsuit. I am still shocked at their great taste. I also had a clutch bag that one of my sisters gave me years ago. And as it is from Seychelles, it has a fab islandy vibe that worked well for a tiki bar.
The shoes are an old pair from Clarks. But they fit perfectly right into my gold theme. My heels have been looking a bit gross recently, all dry and cracked. Last month I got the Scholl Express Pedi, which was a godsend. It quickly exfoliated the dry skin off my feet in about two minutes (I now use it once a week) and I am no longer ashamed to wear sandals or shoes that show my heels.
I loved my birthday outfit. I felt so confident and it made turning 40 so much brighter.
I was sent the Scholl Express Pedi for the purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
