2. Blondie – One Way or Another
My daughter heard me humming this song one day when she was 4-years old and asked what it was. I sang it to her then played the song from YouTube. She was hooked. She once told me that when she grows up she will be in a band and it will be called ‘Brownie’ (because she has brown hair). This song makes me think of my rock-n-roll daughter.
Most British people have never heard of Dave Matthews Band. But I’m American, and by law we are all required to love DMB. He reminds me of being at university and getting drunk and singing along to his songs at frat parties. This song is a bit sexy and was always a good song for the end of a raucous night.
4. Cyndi Lauper – Time After Time
I am so old. But this song reminds me of being young. That’s all.
6. Dolly Parton – 9 to 5
I loves me some Dolly. This was pretty tough to decide. I was really tempted to pick ‘Jolene’. But this song makes me want to sing and dance.
7. Haim – The Wire
This song hasn’t stood the test of time as it is a new favourite. But I’m loving it right now. It has a great beat and I love how it’s so ‘girl power’.
8. Stevie Wonder – As
This was Husband’s and my First Dance at our wedding. This songs reminds me of the most romantic day of my life. We even went to dance lessons before the big day. I’ll never forget how he twirled me about and how everyone ‘oohed’ when he dipped me. If I had it on video, you would be watching that!
So, those are the songs I would not want to live without. It was really fun doing this. I would love to hear if any of my songs mean anything to you, so please comment. xx
