Slow Cooking Made Easy

Slow Cooking Made Easy

I’m not the most confident cook (although I enjoy baking). I make all the kids’ meals, plus once a week I cook dinner for Husband. I would like to cook for him more often, but I am so tired once I have put the children to bed. I feel bad that Husband gets home at 7pm or 8pm most nights then has to cook our dinner. I had thought about trying to use a slow-cooker, but felt a bit overwhelmed about trying new recipes and adapting my current ones. So when Slow Cook Chef asked me to trial their services, I was intrigued.

We received our Slow Cook Chef box, and an Andrew James Slow Cooker, on a Sunday afternoon. This gave me time to look at the ingredients and recipe cards and figure out what we would eat for the next three days. Each recipe’s ingredients came in a brown paper bag, so there was no scrambling trying to figure out which ingredients were meant for each dish. We started with a Green Thai Curry on Monday. The glossy recipe card made the directions very easy. I had to saute some of the ingredients before adding it to the chicken, but it only took about five minutes. And it was delicious. And there was actually enough for me to have the leftovers for lunch the following day.

On Tuesday, I made the Honey Chicken Wings. This was so quick, and yummy. I had thought we would have leftovers, but the wings were so good that we ate every last bit. I will definitely make these again, but next time I won’t include the chili flakes so that we can have them for a family dinner. On Wednesday, I made the Italian Pork Stew (another tasty meal). I had to saute some of the ingredients for a few minutes before setting the slow-cooker, but it was not difficult. One of the best things about the Slow Cook Chef box is that the onions are diced and all the other ingredients come in the correct measure. I only had to chop some garlic and veg. Easy peasy.

If you are interested in a Slow Cook Chef box, you can subscribe for either £38.95 per week (for two people) or £54.95 for the family plan . Or you can order a one-time taster box (three meals for two people) for £41.70. The lovely people from Slow Cook Chef are offering my readers two great discount codes, so it would be silly not to try it out – ELTAKE50 : 50% off first box ELFREESC: Free 3.5 L Andrew James Slow cooker with first box.

We were sent three meals and a slow-cooker for the purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

  1. We love our slow cooker but often run out of inspiration of what to cook. This looks like a fantastic idea and such a nice twist on traditional recipe boxes x
