I don’t know about you, but I find myself wearing the same thing time and time again. I wear a baggy but comfy dress, a cardigan and leggings. During the week, when I’m all about school runs and errands, this uniform works. I add trainers for most of the year, boots during the winter. But I’m 40 now, and getting tired of dressing like I did at 32. I want to look a bit more sophisticated and more polished, while still remaining relatively casual and comfortable. So, when the team at George at Asda challenged me to mix up my #styleYOUniform, I had to give it a try.
As a Stay-At-Home-Mum, I don’t have loads of money to spend on my wardrobe, so I normally just buy clothes for nights out and weekend outings. I don’t normally treat myself to weekday clothes, bar the occasional sweatshirt (I love sweatshirts). And recently, I haven’t wanted to get any new clothes, as I have put on all the weight I lost last year (20 pounds, eek!). But with being 40, I am trying to be kinder to myself and not waste energy beating myself up over my weight gain.
So back to my new outfit. I picked out a Floral Tie Dress (£14.00) and 2 Pack 3/4 Length Leggings (£10). Despite the tie at the waist, the dress has a shift-shape, and is very comfortable. The dress-leggings combo looks quite similar to my usual everyday style (I love a flowery dress), so I decided to go out of my comfort zone and picked out a blazer. A blazer! This Embossed Blazer (£16) looks chic and much more expensive than it costs. The angled zip pocket makes it look very modern. Plus I added the fun and elegant Wedge Heeled Gladiator Sandals (£14), which completed the look. The sandals are very comfortable (though not as comfy as my beloved trainers) and could easily be worn in the day or in the evening.
I feel that my new outfit has taken my everyday mummy style to a new level. Even though some of the elements are similar to what I wear, it feels more polished. Husband and both of our children even made comments about how much they liked what I was wearing, which made me feel really good. So, what do you think of my new #styleyouniform?
I was asked to pick out some items from George at Asda for the purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I think you look fab! It;s so easy to get stuck in a rut of wearing the same things over and over.
Aww, thank you! I’ve been in a rut for too long.
Hey hey now with the fly green polish lady!! I love this outfit, yet another example of supermarket chic! #StyleIt Yvadney x
ps. You know you need to get involved in my fashion & beauty linky #MumsThatSlay right?
Aww, thanks chick. Ooh, I will link up! xx
Loving your style, lady! Still love your sweatshirt from a while ago too, but I agree, now we’re 40, there is an urge to look a bit more together and polished. A blazer certainly adds that edge, and it’ll look great with so many outfits. Hope you’re well hon. xx
Aww, thanks chick. It’s been too warm for my sweatshirt, so sad. xx
