My newest obsession (apart from scrambled eggs) are soba noodles. I have had them in restaurants before, but didn’t see what the fuss was about. Then, two weeks ago, Husband (who does most of the cooking at the weekend and half of the weekday cooking) decided to check out the nearby Korean supermarket for the first time. He came back with soba noodles (amongst other things). And then he made some magic in the kitchen. Okay, I don’t know about magic. But he put all these ingredients together and made an amazing dinner (‘Sesame Soba Noodles with Grilled Chicken’).
And since I kept going on and on about the soba noodles, Husband made another soba dish last week (this time a vegetarian one, ‘Soba Noodles with a Honey-Soy Dressing’). And again, I wasn’t disappointed. Luckily, we have a fab Use Your Noodle cookbook that has lots of different noodle recipes, utillising all kinds of noodles. It’s currently on special at Sainsbury’s if you’d like to check it out.
Soba noodles are made of buckwheat flour and have a nutty flavour. They look like whole-wheat spaghetti and are absolutely delicious. Some are gluten-free, and some aren’t, you have to check the packet. You can find Soba noodles at most grocery shops. And if you have a Oriental food store nearby, go check it out. It will likely be much cheaper. Though it can be intimidating, if you are not familiar with that sort of cooking. It is a fun experience. And can lead to a new food obsession.
I was sent the ‘Use Your Noodle’ cookbook for the purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I don’t think I’ve ever tried Soba Noodles before – will look out for them. How messy are kids eating noodles! All part of the fun though #TastyTuesdays
I know, so messy. But as long as most of the food goes in their tummies, I don’t mind. 🙂
I’ve not tried these but you have inspired me to do noodles for tea tonight. Thanks you! #TastyTuesday
My kids love noodles! Mini chicken ramen is their favourite!
Never heard of these before but they sound like my kind of thing. Will look out for them – thanks #tastytuesday
